The Yoga portion of this class was developed by Nischala Joy Devi, former Director of Stress Management for Dr. Dean Ornish's Heart Lifestyle Trial. This reasearch was funded by the National Institutes of Health. All of the postures and breathing exercises were scientifically studied to measure their physiological effects on people with cardiovascular disease. All of the practices were deemed safe for people who were candidates for and recovering from coronary artery bypass surgery. The Yogic techniques used in this course are gentle and require no prior experience.
A detailed health history will be taken prior to the first class. If for any reason the course would not be safe for you due to a medical condition, full refund of the deposit will be given.
Nicole trained directly with Nischala Joy Devi, in addition to her experience as a Registered Nurse. Please visit Nischala's website for more information on the Yoga of the Heart training. |

In our quest to eat low-fat meals we can fall into the trap of consuming processed foods with the Low Fat label. Many of these foods are high in calories and loaded with refined and hydrogenated oils, preservatives and fillers. These foods are not healthy, though they claim to be.
The cooking workshops with Chef Daniel Jay Casbarro will teach you how to eat heart healthy without compromising natural, organic, whole food. You will learn how to read labels and discern the difference between healthy fats and un-healthy fats. The recipes and knowledge you will gain from the workshops will help you to eat healthier and still feel satiated and satisfied. Chef Daniel has a degree in Sustainable Agriculture and graduated from the Chef Training program at the Natural Gourmet Institute in Manhattan. He is a therapeutic chef and specializes in helping people attain a healthier lifestyle through connection to food and nourishment.
