Preventive, Restorative, Palliative

Current Medical research is showing what Yogi's have known for 5,000 years. A yogic lifestyle, which includes simple breathing, postures, relaxation, positive thinking and meditation, has profound implications for health.

We can no longer treat our current ails and illnesses in a reductionistic manner. Yoga recognizes that true health and healing occurs on all levels, physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual.

Many of the illnesses modern people suffer from are related to stress and the fight or flight response. We are in constant busy mode, disconnected from nature, community and our true selves. Yogic practices calm the mind and initiate the relaxation response. This helps to decrease stress, increase immune function and bring the individual back into balance.

Yoga can be an excellent adjunct if you are undergoing medical treatment or recovering from illness. You do not need to be flexible, athletic or have prior yoga experience to begin.
